A bond movie would not be the same without bond girls. While the world has thankfully become a less sexist place since the first bond movie was released in 1963 bond girls have remained an important part of the movie dynasty. If there was a bond movie without a bond girl the ratings would likely suffer a lot. By definition, a bond girl is a love interest for James Bond in the movie. She may be an ally or an enemy, she may be pivotal to the mission, or she may just be good looking but she must be wooed by Bond. Throughout history, there have been some incredibly stunning bond girls. Let’s take a look at where they are now.
Many credit Eunice with being the first bond girl as she was in the 1963 movie Dr.No and From Russia with Love. Eunice studied opera before she became an actress. Many credit Eunice with gifting Bond his most famous line, his introduction. When she introduced herself on screen she said her name was “Trench, Sylvia Trench” and from then on Bond has introduced himself in the same way. Eunice Gayson died in 2018 at the age of 90.
Lea Seydoux starred in the latest Bond movie, Spectre. She was famous before the movie having acted in the Grand Budapest Hotel, The Lobster and Blue is the warmest color. She has gone on to star in a number of movies since Spectre but none to the same acclaim.
Monica Belucci also starred in Spectre making her the oldest woman to ever be cast as a Bond girl at the age of 51. She began her career working in fashion as a model for Dolce and Gabbana before acting in Italian movies. From there she moved to stardom on the American screen. She is famous for her role in Matrix movies and as being one of the most beautiful women to ever grace the movie screen.
Olga, or to give her proper title Ольга Костянтинівна Куриленко, stared in the 2008 movie Quantum of Solace where she played Camille. Olga went on to have a successful career and continues to act to this day at the young age of 41.
Richard is famous for her roles in the 90s when she became the hottest actor in the world for a time. She played a nuclear physicist in the movie ‘The World is Not Enough’ alongside Pierce Brosnan and manages to stop a nuclear disaster. While Richards is still making movies today she is more famous for her relationship with her ex-husband Charlie Sheen. It is also worth mentioning that Richards is heavily involved in many charities today as well as her new husband Aaron Phypers.
One of the most famous actresses ever to become a bond girl is the incredible Halle Berry. She is the only Bond girl to win an academy award for her role in the 2001 movie Monster’s Ball. Yet she will always be remembered for emerging from the beach in her orange bikini in Die Another Day.
Berry’s career started as a Miss World pageant contestant but found her love in acting. To date, she has acted in 57 movies (or other titles). Most recently she was featured in the John Wick trilogy and appears to still be just as beautiful and just as talented.
These are a few of our favorite Bond girls but there are many more that we could discuss. Everyone has their favorite Bond girl and it usually coincides with when you were a teenager and watching the movies. So, who was your favorite?
